BFF

Monday 30th July is International Day of Friendship. I have many international friendships but there are a few that I cherish immensely.

I have a few friends I’ve known for many years, seen each other through the laughter and the tears, sometimes, we don’t see each other for a while, but each time I think of them I smile.

When we do catch up, it’s like I saw them the other day, the conversation is ten to the dozen, as there is so much to say, they are a beautiful bunch, confident, resilient and kind, who are not afraid to speak their mind.

They never put me down and always encourage me in all that I do, their words of encouragement pick me up whenever I feel blue, I’ve told them I love them, as I think it’s important to say, as there is a time we won’t all be around, oh, what a sad day.

Acquaintances come into my life, but don’t get to the friends stage, maybe I’m too picky, maybe it’s my age, there’s something wonderful about girlfriends knowing about your past, I hope these meaningful friendships will always last.

The International Day of Friendship is also based on the recognition of the relevance and importance of friendship as a noble and valuable sentiment in the lives of human beings around the world. Taken from the United Nations website.
