Ever been to a funeral and you end up laughing at what the clergy or the relatives say? Well, that is what I experienced when I went to a celebration of life of an 89 year old matriarch. The pastor was serious in the service but also funny in the right places. The eulogy, read by the matriarch's oldest son was delivered with humour and respect.
At a time when tears of sadness are flowing, the unexpected rise of laughter can make a sad occasion into an alright occasion.
The send off was befitting of a strong woman who raised many children, had many grandchildren and even more great grandchildren.
Life after death is hard and it may be eased a little with some humour.
